I really loved hanging out with @schlueter.surfboards and watching him do his thing and learning about the process. I asked Michael why he does what he does and here’s what he had to say:

“Growing up in Socal, going to the beach was the best place to be. From bodysurfing and boogie boarding as a kid, surfing seemed like a natural progression.

I’ve been surfing now for 9 years. Surfing became a safe/calm place. I was always handy making things growing up.

Shaping seemed like another way to express my love for the ocean and surfing. They both take lots of trial and error but once you get a good wave/board. It is one of the best feelings. Which is part of why I shape.

Not only for myself but to help others enjoy surfing just as much as I do.” – Michael Schlueter
