A friend and I had a free day last summer and signed up for a class at @olasceramics on a whim and it turned out to be one of the most fun things! The owner, Kyle Denton, taught us that day and he is one of the nicest, most easy-going guys you will meet.

I had the pleasure of taking photos of him the other day and wanted to share a little bit of his story in his own words: ‘While going to school for graphic design in 2016, I tried ceramics for the first time and was so bad at it that I was determined to figure it out.

I fell in love with the challenging process and the unlimited possibilities within this medium. I saw other people doing this for their job and figured if they can do it, why couldn’t I?

I quickly switched my major to focus on ceramics and fully committed to figuring out how to make this my life no matter what challenges I faced.

I spent the next few years working in production pottery and honing the craft which lead to teaching others my passion.

I get the same stoke watching that passion grow within each person I work with and to be apart of that is something that’s super special to me.

I had saved for years, sold my car, my surfboards, anything I had worth money to open up my own studio here in my hometown of San Clemente and I’m hoping to use this space to create a community and to give people a chance to try it out.
