For years I would see these beautiful ceramic mugs at @organic_tree that I would always pick up and hold and admire and the other day I finally met the man behind the mugs @jonginnaty

I had the pleasure of chatting with artist Jon Ginnaty, whose journey from Huntington Beach to the art world is nothing short of inspiring.

Growing up in Southern California, Jon found freedom and creativity in surfing, skateboarding, and soccer, which ultimately earned him a soccer scholarship to California State University, Fullerton.

However, it was during his time there that Jon discovered his true passion for ceramics, eventually earning a BFA in 2001. His talent quickly shone through—winning the John & Flora Olsen Scholarship and a first-place award for a ceramic vessel that now resides in the Titan Student Union.

Jon’s artistic path took him to Bowling Green State University, where he earned an MFA in ceramics, before returning to California to teach and exhibit his work. Over the years, he’s garnered recognition, including the 2009 Orange County Art Grant and a solo exhibition at CSUF Grand Central Art Center.

In 2018, Jon shifted his focus to teaching high school ceramics at Dana Hills High School and established a private studio in San Clemente.

With a growing family and a thriving career, Jon continues to inspire both his students and the art community with his passion and dedication to the craft.

Head to @organic_tree in Dana Point to see more of his ceramic mugs, plates and bowls✨
