Aliens, politics, the after life and the pope- it was one heck of a conversation. 

Had the pleasure of sitting down with Bob Hasbrook @honolua_bob_72 recently, and I’m excited to share a little about this incredibly talented, multi-faceted artist.

Bob is a self-taught painter, woodworker, musician, and composer with a unique approach to creativity that spans across several disciplines. 

We talked about his journey as an artist, which began at an early age with a love for painting, music, and singing. Over the years, he’s honed his skills in oils, watercolors, acrylics, and mixed media, drawing inspiration from the landscapes that surround him.

His work captures everything from the tropical beauty of Hawaii and Southern California to the windswept coastlines of Northern California, the vast open fields of Montana, and the tranquil woods and rivers of the South, West, and Midwest. He also enjoys exploring abstract compositions, using bold and varied color palettes to express himself.

Bob’s deep connection to the ocean is evident in his paintings, especially the ocean scenes he creates. Having been a lifelong surfer, fisherman, and boater, he brings a unique understanding and respect for the ocean in all its moods and seasons. 

In addition to his visual art, Bob’s musical background is equally impressive. As the former lead guitarist and vocalist for the iconic rock band *Iron Butterfly*, he’s continued to compose and record music, with his latest jazz ballad receiving praise from prominent jazz musicians.

Woodworking is another natural outlet for Bob’s creativity. He crafts beautiful bowls and boxes from both common and exotic woods, showcasing his meticulous craftsmanship. 

After spending years running his own advertising company, Hasbrook Multi Media, Bob is now fully immersed in his artistic pursuits. It was amazing to hear him talk about how he’s embracing this next chapter, dedicating himself to his passions for painting, woodworking, and music.
